Sign Up for Windows Live for Mobile (USA only) ! April 02, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R. Since Microsoft and Apple have agreement "we make MS Office for Intel Mac, and you don't prevent Intel Mac computers from running our operating systems" it is not Apple, but Google that is worrying Microsoft: Google's web based email solution may soon displace Microsoft Exchange and Google is preparing other services that can directly undermine Microsoft. So in response to Google and to arrival of Web 2.0 (i.e. web applications with interactivity similar to stand alone applications thanks to AJAX technologies - no need to reload a web page to see changes of content), Microsoft is scaling down ".NET" marketing buzz and replaced it with "Live" buzz. Now this "Live" buzz arrives also to Windows Mobile - apparently each division of Microsoft must contribute to the "Live"... Mike Lounge from Microsoft writes: We’ve opened a signup form for the beta of a new product for mobile devices. The beta has pretty high requirements (which doesn’t necessarily mean that the final product will have the same requirements) so you must have a Windows Mobile 5.0 device and it has to be a Smartphone (not PocketPC smartphone edition). For now you also have to be located in the USA (if you are located in a different country we soon may have some good news for you too).
