Orange UK offers Windows Mobile email and (at last) flat rate mobile Internet access April 09, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R. Although some (selected, very few) Symbian phones also have Microsoft's wireless ActiveSync technology, including Direct Push (i.e. push email), clearly Windows Mobile phones are in better position because they all offer it and besides: Microsoft phones surely must work better with Microsoft Exchange servers... Interestingly Orange UK launched something called "Windows Mobile email": With Windows Mobile email, you can access email on the move in much the same way as in the office. If you're already using Microsoft Exchange 2003, you can quickly and easily activate the mobility already built into your system, so you're making the most out of your current investment. Your field teams are then set to make full use of all the time in their day, whether on the train or waiting for a meeting to start. Being more responsive means greater efficiency and improved customer service. Read more here. Orange also launched true flat rate (for fixed monthly rate user gets unlimited data traffic) mobile Internet offering: Mobile Modem usage: use your phone for email and as a modem, all the data for your phone and laptop data top-up per month: 55 GBP Read more here. Conclusion: although these offerings are directed only at companies (1 person Ltd company would suffice though) it is good to see focus on Windows Mobile and (for the first time in UK) a true flat rate mobile Internet access (no limits anymore). Due to bundling of these mobile data offerings with Microsoft products there is a danger that overly sensitive E.U. bureaucrats will sue Microsoft and its partners like Orange UK for monopoly practices... so if you have a company in UK go grab these offerings as long as they last!
