25 song DRM sync limit bug in Windows Mobile 5 - not limited to Treo, i-mate too April 09, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R. While most other websites and news sources are all kissy-kissy and smiles with manufacturers, distributors and wireless carriers, we are here constantly at their throats to ensure maximal customer satisfaction for end users of Windows Mobile phones. In this case clearly Microsoft is not at fault because it has released the patch for the problem already, but as usual the others are not very eager to deploy it to end users... Just imagine: it must be very annoying to have a 2Gb miniSD memory card and only be able to sync 25 of songs purchased online to it...! Clearly the problem with 25 song limit, that we mentioned before here applies also to some other Windows Mobile 5.0 phones to as users report: I have an i-mate SP5 (with the newest ROM) and have the same annoying DRM sync bug that was reported for the Treo - cannot sync more than 25 DRM songs into the device before windows media player on the PC reports an error. It seems that this bug is Windows Moble 5.0 wide and not limited to a particular manufacturer. Microsoft is aware of it, as noted here and has 'released a fix to device manufacturers'... but i-mate, like Palm, has yet to pass this on to customers or even acknowledge the problem.
