Samsung SPH-M4300 (Mits M4300) now on sale in Korea

If you live in Korea and you would like to purchase Windows Mobile phone then your choice is not big and limited in most cases to very outdated models (some even still powered by Windows Mobile 2002). In fact there is not even one phone powered by Windows Mobile 5.0 on the Korean market! The fact that in Korea there are no GSM networks (also no EDGE and no GPRS) and that in Korea there is no UMTS (instead CDMA EVDO and WiMax are used as 3G technologies) is making the situation even more difficult...
Currently the only Windows Mobile phone, that is quite up to date, is available in Korea, and is powerful enough is Samsung M4300:
- exact model name: SPH-M4300
- Windows Mobile 2003 SE Phone edition
- card slot: SD/MMC, SDIO compatible
- Wi-Fi: 802.11b
- processor: Intel PXA272 Bulverde 512MHz
- a simpler (Wi-Fi-less) version of M4300 - the M420 - will go on sale in summer 2006
Look at Korean market lets us understand better why Samsung is late with release of GSM/UMTS versions of Windows Mobile powered phones... and to all users who are waiting for 8GB MS Smartphone (Samsung i310) or the MS Smarphone with QWERTY keyboard (Samsung i320), we must say: get ready for more delays! ... or just buy phones made by other manufacturers. It looks like Samsung is not committed strongly enough for Windows Mobile and Samsung has some technical issues with phones, what results in cancellations and delays of phones powered by Windows Mobile.
Please note: the release dates of Samsung i750 (Pocket PC phone for GSM) and Samsung i320 (tiny MS Smartphone with QWERTY keyboard) are totally unknown... and these phones may be never released.
