Samsung i320 approved by FCC in USA
April 23, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R.
While GSM version of Motorola Q is scheduled for 2007, it looks like Samsung i320 may be the first GSM MS Smartphone with Qwerty keyboard on the market... also in USA!
Some highlights:
- in photos clearly "Made in Korea by Samsung" is visible, so it sign that Samsung i320 will be made in Korea itself (Samsung's home country) what indicates higher quality and importance of this phone for the Samsung corporation
- at this point in time still the following items are "short-time confidential": External Photos, Internal Photos, Test-Setup Photos, User’s Manual
- While Samsung i320 may be lacking UMTS and HSDPA, it has very nice QWERTY keyboard and is very small - what will be more than enough for most users. The only crucial thing will be launch date - Samsung has a record of showing Windows Mobile phones at the trade show that later were never relesed: if release date will be (at least) before Christmas 2006 then Samsung i320 will have chances to compete with HTC.
- the fact that a phone has been FCC approved in USA doesn't mean that it will go on sale in USA automatically - it may be just FCC approved for travellers, but it increases possibility that Samsung i320 will go on sale also in USA.
