Motorola Q delayed even further
April 30, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R.

Last year Motorola Q smartphone seemed like the best thing that could happen to Windows Mobile phones: very thin and with a real wheel (and not just jog-dial)... but now we know that Samsung i320 is thinner and that HTC Hermes also has a wheel. Furthermore once again Motorola Q is being delayed:

The Moto Q is expected to be available in first half of 2006.

... Motorola writes. In other words: at first Motorola Q was supposed to arrive in December 2005 but then release dates were moved and clearly April deadline is missed. At best we can expect release in June or July... but by that time Fujitsu-Siemens Loox and HTC Hermes and possibly also GSM version of Windows Mobile Treo will be online and then it may be too late for Motorola Q.

Please note: there are unconfirmed (!) rumors on the Internet that Microsoft and Motorola will have joint press conference where Motorola Q will be launched on May 22, 2006. If this rumor would be confirmed it would be strange because Motorola and Microsoft had joint event related to Motorola Q already before as you can see here (CEOs of Microsoft and Motorola: Steve Ballmer and Ed Zander were present then).

More information about Q below.

The First no-Compromises QWERTY

Today’s individuals and corporations are looking for mobility to give them an edge, and the new Q delivers. Motorola’s thinnest QWERTY, Q changes the playing field for mobile email devices by delivering a superior mobile office experience with no compromises. Combining quality voice, data, and multimedia in one amazing “RAZR-thin” package, Q helps make mobility = productivity.

The office that moves with you

Your life goes beyond the office. You need the freedom to have information that moves with you – without desks, wires or bulk to weigh you down. The Motorola Q brings that freedom.

Voice, data and multimedia in Motorola's thinnest full-function smartphone

While the new Motorola Q is 50% thinner than other smartphones, don’t let it’s sleek styling and incredible thinness fool you. The Motorola Q is a full-function smartphone with superior voice quality, data and multimedia capabilities.

It features a large, vibrant 2.4” color screen, voice activated dialing, a 1.3 megapixel camera with photo lighting, mp3 and video capabilities, stereo speakers and web surfing capability…so you can listen to your favorite song while checking your email or visit the web for the latest news while commuting to work.

Its electro-luminescent keys, full QWERTY keyboard and thumbwheel for single-handed control make the Motorola Q, dare we say, fun to use?
