No Motorola Q launch next week? May 20, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Motorola is a world champion in not-launching of Windows Mobile phones: Motorola MPx100 was announced at 3GSM but never launched, Motorola MPx was launched only in Asia and then cancelled immediately...
(on image above: top managers of Motorola answering questions of journalists at 3GSM; the first from right is: Ed Zander - CEO of Motorola) and now also there are problems with Motorola Q that was supposed to come to market in December 2005 (as Ed Zander CEO of Motorola claimed last year) but now it looks like also next week release date is endangered: The response from a Verizon spokesperson was unequivocal. "We do not have a launch event scheduled for next week." Not the First Time While one might be tempted to take the word of a company's CEO over that of someone working in another company's marketing department, it should be pointed out that this isn't the first time Zander has promised that this device would be out soon. Specifically, he said in October of 2005 that the Motorola Q would be out before the end of that year, something that obviously didn't happen. To learn more click here. Please note: Motorola has sent Motorola Q units to developers and they are ready for official launch and start of sales next week, but there could be some other factors that caused the postponement. Anyway: since Samsung is also not a particular champion in releases of Windows Mobile phones (Samsung i320 that could endanger Motorola Q also was delayed) and HTC is not innovative enough (still no phone with QWERTY keyboard and single-handed usage from HTC), it looks like Motorola can comfortably delay launch of Moto Q further couple of weeks...
