No more AvantGo ActiveSync Syncing! May 22, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R. Microsoft is a strange company: people are not getting fired even if they make big mistakes that annoy many thousands of customers. The same was with removal of ActiveSync over Wi-Fi synchronization in Windows Mobile 5.0 - allmost all Microsoft employees are completely out of touch with needs of users... and now Microsoft introduced new model in ActiveSync, that forces synching every 5 minutes so AvantGo was forced to change AvantGo to prevent overloading of their servers with pointless requests: Beginning with AvantGo version 6.2, AvantGo synchronization is initiated from the AvantGo client. It is no longer possible to synchronize AvantGo using Active Sync. This change is necessary in order to maintain quality sync performance of the AvantGo service....Active Sync 4.X, when paired with a Windows Mobile 5 device, triggers an ActiveSync synchronization about every five minutes. As the number of Windows Mobile 5 devices grow on the service, the volume of devices syncing this frequently results in slower syncs and other sync related problems. The modification to require user-initiated syncs from Windows Mobile users will help maintain quality service levels for all AvantGo subscribers. The original source of this story is here. Conclusion: now users must initiate AvantGo sync manually. Please note: if you would like to read news and stories from our site in your mobile device - and off-line without Internet connection - then you can use our full AvantGo channel, that provides synchronization through PC for off-line reading! Unlike most other websites that don't have AvantGo channel at all, or only have custom made (thus limited) AvantGo channel, we provide full AvantGo channel for your mobile reading pleasure!
