Also O2 will be selling HTC Hermes - as Xda trion
May 24, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.
HTC Hermes is simply to good, for wireless carriers to give up on it, so also O2 Europe (Germany, UK, Ireland) is launching it under the name Xda trion:
One big surprise: O2 is launching it with processor 400 MHz from Samsung instead of 300 MHz mentioned by other operators and distributors! Samsung's 400 MHz processor is approximately the same speed as Intel Xscale 520 MHz. More highlights about this phone:
- real wheel that increases usability - not just jog-dial ; wheel is one of the main reasons why BlackBerry devices are such a big success and after Motorola Q, HTC Hermes is the second phone with real wheel
- retractable QWERTY keyboard - very good but not usable with one hand - one must use 2 hands to use it
- powered by Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC Phone Edition with AKU2/MSFP (i.e. with push email on board)
- cellular: GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS and HSDPA
- 2 cameras: in the front QCIF camera for video calling and on the back megapixel camera for taking photos
- both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi integrated
- expected date of commercial availability: July 2006
Official information about Xda trion is available at the website of O2 here.
