Mobile Platform Comparison White Paper from Wipro from India June 01, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R. If you have enough money (and Microsoft has more than enough of this stock), then you can purchase Wipro Technologies, a ... and the report itself contains a lot of paid-for-drivel like this one (a quote): Wipro Opinion: User features on each device are very similar although implemented in different ways. For instance, Blackberry’s trackball and built-in QWERTY keyboard on some of its more popular models provide a simple to use and relatively intuitive interface to manipulate email and PIM data. [...] Although the Blackberry QWERTY keyboard is somewhat easier for text data entry, such as when composing and replying to SMS messages, the Smartphone’s use of the standard phone number/letter keypad and predictive text technology, along with the capability to insert voice comments provides an acceptable text entry capability after some initial user practice. Please note also that Wipro is not even professional enough to notice that BlackBerry devices don't actually have a "trackball" ("a ball mounted in a stationary housing and rotated to control a pointer on a computer screen") but a wheel (not to be confused also with "jog dial" that can move only up and down but can't scroll). Moreover the technological differences ("push" implemented in reality by a poll in case of Microsoft) were not explained in this report and impact of these differences on battery life was also not mentioned (allegedly Microsoft's "push" drains battery much faster than RIM's technology). However if Wipro can't get correct the name of the input controller of BlackBerry devices, no wonder that the technological nuances evade Wipro's attention too...
