Another review of O2 Xda IQ MS Smartphone June 05, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. O2 Xda IQ is now on sale at O2 UK and it is excellent small Microsoft Smartphone with built-in Wi-Fi. It has too slow processor to be able to handle Skype voice calls (200 MHz - as all contemporary smartphones, except for Motorola Q), but if you need small mobile phone with built-in Wi-Fi, this phone may be excellent proposition for you! As mentioned earlier in the review this is the excellent HTC Comm Manager (activated by the left hand side button) from here you have full control over the the various parts of the phone: 1 - Turn phone on / off 2 - Bluetooth on / off 3 - WiFi on /off 4 - Direct Push Email on / off 5 - Cancels the data connection, i.e. turns off GPRS 6 - Toggles between sound and vibrate modes 7 - Loads Active Sync As you can see the WiFi system is fully active and from within the Comm Manager both Bluetooth connections to devices and WiFi links to wireless networks can be configured. To read this excellent review, including many screenshots and photos, click here. Please note: although Skype voice calls would not work with this smartphone, there are plenty other voice over IP (VoIP) programs that willl work. Having built-in Wi-Fi however is brilliant not just for VoIP but also allows for comfortable (without PC!) downloading of podcasts overnight, etc.
