Another Motorola Q Review published + still no Skype for MS Smartphone June 07, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Now that Motorola Q is on sale more and more reviews of this phone are appearing - some are fakes and without any photos and some are good and solid. Here comes a solid one: Like all Smartphones the Q supports Profiles that change the way the phone operates automatically or by intervention; I have mine automatically answer calls when I’m driving. What about Data? The CDMA network from Verizon offers EVDO data transfer and this device uses it well. Email sync is quick and effortless. With a maximum download of 700+Kbps it should be. It connects to the EVDO network without prompting too which means that you don’t see the ‘Dialing’ nonsense that pops up on the Treo 650 every time you finish a call. There’s no Wi-Fi so SKYPE calls over Wi-Fi are out but at 700Kbps EVDO should handle that; it’ll be interesting to see if a SKYPE for Smartphone is created to match the already available SKYPE for Pocket PC. To read this original review click here. * * * * * Due to availability of wireless broadband in form of CDMA EVDO (with flat rate monthly fee) in combination with Motorola Q phone, clearly lack of Wi-Fi is not a problem... Please note: Skype for MS Smarpthone is available only in beta version without support for voice (unlike Skype for Pocke PC that supports also voice), so users of Motorola Q can't use Skype yet. However both Motorola Q and upcoming HTC Breeze are Microsoft Smartphone devices that feature fast enough processors to handle Skype - 300+ MHz - therefore time is ripe for Skype to release full version of Skype client for MS Smartphone! Unfortuantely Skype is now a part of big eBay corporation what can make it less agile, compare to what it was when it was just a startup with heardquarters in London, UK and development team in Estonia...
