Walter Mossberg resents not being invited to Mobius invite only conference of Microsoft ? June 12, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R. We have seen Walter S. Mossberg from Wall Street Journal moderating a session during 3GSM conference once (to the right Mossberg, to the left: Knook - main manager of mobile division of Microsoft):
... and slashing Microsoft with all possible means. Since he is considered in USA to be one of the the most influential technology journalists in the world, it is interesting to see that he actually considers QWERTY keyboard in Motorola Q - the most important feature of this phone - to be unworthy: The Q is the bigger news here. In the tradition of Motorola's RAZR phone, the Q is a sleek, handsome devil. It demolishes the two biggest problems with smartphones like the Treo: They are bulky and expensive. The Q is a little wider than the Treo 700p, but it's just half as thick and, at 4.06 ounces, is more than one-third lighter. Unfortunately, its Microsoft software is much clumsier than the Treo's Palm software, degrading its utility. Also, the Q's screen is lower-resolution than the Treo's and slightly smaller, and its battery life as a phone is weaker than the Treo's. While the Q keyboard is larger than the Treo's, we actually found it worse for typing. To read more click here. Conclusion: maybe Microsoft should start inviting Walter S. Mossberg to Mobius - invite only conference organized to be forum for influential journalists and online authors, but being abused and in shambles due to nepotism and inviting incapable fanboys instead of truly influential writers, like Walter S. Mossberg.
