After years of rebranding HTC products by others, now HTC will be rebranding itself!
June 24, 2006 [Wireless (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ...)] | By Edward J. R.

Until recently it were only mobile operators and distributors, that were putting their own labels and rebranding products designed and manufactured by HTC. Then HTC decided to introduce new logo and announced mobile phones under its own HTC brand!

... but now we are revealing that HTC will be also selling products designed and manufactured by other companies under its own "HTC" brand:

As you can see above the HTC BH S100 Bluetooth stereo headset is a rebranded iTech Clip R35 or iTech Clip S38 Bluetooth stereo headsets.

Nowadays Bluetooth profile for stereo audio is used in many mobile phones, not just in smartphones but also in regular phones like mobile phones from Samsung or Motorola. Although the Nokia N91 smartphone that features 4GB hard disk and is allegedly designed as music phone is missing out on this feature and provides no support for stereo audio over Bluetooth... but all contemporary models of Windows Mobile phones indeed support stereo audio over Bluetooth eliminating totally the need to use wired handsets.

Please note that times when Bluetooth stereo headsets were produced only by little known Chinese or Taiwanese companies are over and now also Siemens and Nokia are selling wireless headsets with full support for high quality stereo audio!

It is worth also mentioning that stereo Bluetooth headsets are usable also for taking and initiating phone calls and that they can support the following Bluetooth profiles: A2DP ("Advanced Audio Distribution Profile" - for stereo audio transmission) and AVRCP (" Audio/Video Distribution Transport Protocol" - for remote control of media player).

Conclusion: it is interesting to see HTC also as a company that is rebranding products designed and manufactured by other companies. It is difficult to say whether HTC will once be selling also mobile phones designed and manufactured by other companies, but the first step has been taken...
