Mobile MVP news : 2 new added + blog wars

Some changes among MVPs related to Windows Mobile!

There are over 70 people, who currently hold MVP award in area of Windows Mobile, but most of them are either inactive or haven't contributed anything worthwhile in period of last year. Unfortunately Microsoft's awarding criteria still are dodgy and unjust.

"MVP" stands for "Most Valued Professional" and is an award given for period of one year (and prolonged or not in next years) by Microsoft to activists in online and real-life communities of users of Microsoft products (here: Windows Mobile). Having MVP means access to Microsoft internal information, free MSDN subscription (worth several thousand USD = getting all Microsoft software for free), and sometimes it means that Microsoft pays for traveling to USA once a year to MVP summit.

Microsoft has not announced who hasn't got prolongation of their MVP status, but 2 new MVPs have been added: Laura from MobilityToday.com (USA, web traffic rank of 31,211 - decent result) and Wormy from Wormhole Creation (Australia, web traffic rank of 558,655 - very poor result). If we missed some new nominations, please inform us anonymously through web form or email!

While it is true that among MVPs in Windows Mobile area there are plenty of people, who are very deserving and helping the community to big extend, it is true also, that there are vile people among Windows Mobile MVPs too, like certain MVPs who are publishing anonymously libellous blogs about other MVPs (and about non-MVPs) on the *.blogspot.com blogging service. In reality there is big competition among MVPs and some of them don't like each other very much and use underhanded tactics to eliminate competition. Please note: we know exact details about all these underhanded tactics (including names and URLs) but we are not publishing it intentionally to avoid further quarrels among Windows Mobile MVPs.

Conclusion: overall effect of existence of MVPs in Windows Mobile area is very positive but internal quarrels and awarding MVP also to people with tiny or non-existent contributions are dividing a little bit the community. Anyway: it is good to see new people joining ranks of Widows Mobile MVPs.
