July 11, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Lutzh Haedrich.

After the first look at the release version of the HTC MTeoR last friday msmobiles.com can offer you the next exclusive device today: The HTC TyTN has landed and starts a new era of small sized 3G enabled Pocket PC's. Check out our big photo story, video and screen shots!

We've presented you the HTC MTeoR last week and we did it again - we got the release hardware in combination with the HTC WWE release rom of the HTC TyTN in our hands and want to offer you an close look at what you may be able to buy in the next couple of weeks! Check out the photos and the video that shows the TyTN in action plus some screen shots of the fresh green HTC design.

Top left - the wheel that allows up/down and action commands. Next to it the new "OK" that brings you back to the today screen. The voice command key should be know already.

The TyTN also allowes the use of microSD cards, something that most people aren't that happy about since most previouse Windows Mobile devices used SD Card or at least miniSD - now microSD comes around for HTC TyTN as well as for the MTeoR.

From left to right: IR sensor, reset hole (no, not the head set, you know that the new headset is connected to the usb-like connector...), microphone, mini usb connector.

Stylus holder and camera key.

Comm manager - and on/off key.

The video camera for videophony self portrait.

From left to right: Videophony key, call button, left softkey (top) and start-key, 4 way pad and action key, right softkey (top) and ok, end button.

Light sensor for the key pad back light.

2 Megapixels, lens settings for close up and a flash light led.

Let's take a look at the system screens.

This screenshots show you everything you need to know about the HTC TyTN's heart and soul. His HTC code name is HERM200, he's powered by an 400 MHz Samsung processor, has 64 MB RAM and 128 MB flash storage capacity. The 3G video telephony application is already known to those who have used the HTC Universal before. It allowes to change from the front camera for self portrait over to the rear camera if you want to show something to the person you are doing the video call with. Also you can change the size of both video streams. If the person on the other end of the line is not able to accept a video call the application is offering you some other choices to communicate. As you cans ee the HTC TyTN is a tri-band device and you have several options on how you want to use your network.

Waking up the pocket internet explorer.

Just for fun I did a little speed test for my 3G connection. You can see the results here that varied every time. I don't know if I can take that as seriouse figures... But I can say that I never had my e-mails that quick on an Windows Mobile device before at the first setup after connecting via 3G to my private exchange!

The camera offers different photo modes like sports, panorama, video of course. Check the screen shots and the photos made with the built in 2 Megapixel camera.

Check out the fresh green HTC colour scheme! On the left the out of the box today screen, on the right some applications I like to have. See the SPB GPRS Traffic Monitor, it shows the actual connection speed while on sync with exchange.

Let's check what's under the hood of the HTC TyTN:

Introducing you to the new Windows Mobile brothers, TyTN and MTeoR, family name: HTC.

Now we invite you to watch the TyTN wake up and see how it performs in certain situations:

By the way we would really like to show you what videotelephony looks like and if it is worth to go for - but I haven't found anyone out there that owns an video calling enabled 3G device. If you know someone that I can call, drop me (lutzh) a message in the forums - we invite you to post your opinions, questions and findings there too!
