Bring in some fun: Videophony with the HTC TyTN July 19, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Lutzh Haedrich. People asked for it - we did it. Since we are in the lucky situation that we have two HTC TyTN devices available, we just wanted to check what videophony looks like, if it really works and if we can make some fun out of it. Check out the video we did, so you can find out, if that is something you want! ![]() The HTC Universal already had it, but was just a little too big for most pockets, so 3G users wanted something smaller and less heavy. The HTC TyTN brings 3G and the front camera for videophony and we just want to show you what it looks like in action. Please make sure that you don't take this too serious, this is not made in any kind of laboratory, it's just for fun! ![]() Videophony dialing from an HTC TyTN with the release rom, easily recognizable by the green colour scheme. ![]() Connected! This is the second TyTN, the one that HTC sent for press people. It came with an pre-release QTek ROM version ("Not for sale"), easily recognizable by the blue colour scheme. We haven't updated, even if we could ... ![]() Landscape mode. It works and gives more room for the video streams. ![]() Blue and green design side by side. So, now it's time for some moving pictures. I apologize in advance about the quality, the content and what ever else someone can apologize. Like said before: Take it as it is, as some funny thing to show the options. CLICK HERE FOR THE CLIP! Someone said I should write about the great things that people can do with videophony. Ok, here are some words about it (I am only quoting!): "Please note, that 3G video calling is not just a toy-like feature not needed by most subscribers. While it is true that most users don't use 3G video calling every day, it however can be very useful in critical or crucial situations and times - to check out on people or to support voice with live video link! Furthermore 3G video calling can be used for remote video monitoring - for example when the phone is set to "auto-answer" or with use of special 3G cameras." When I told the person that I don't need video calling (to be honest I've said "I think it's useless"), he wanted me to say it like this: "However personally, after testing of video calling, and considering that almost nobody among our friends has 3G phones, we must admit that 3G video calling is a totally useless feature." So, you see any clearer now? You think you need it? Or do you just want it? Let us know in the forum! Made by Lutz Haedrich
