WorldMate to be included in software bundle with O2 Xda Atom Exec Pocket PC phone
July 20, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.

If you are a mobile software house and you sell your programs to individual customers, then life is harsh - sometimes you even don't have enough income to pay basic bills. The dream of each mobile software house is to score a deal with mobile operator (wireless carrier) whereas your software is bundled with phones. This dream has come true for MobiMate Ltd.

Information from MobiMate Ltd follows.

WorldMate Goes Executive on the O2 Xda Atom Exec Throughout Asia Pacific and The Middle East

O2 Asia Pacific Is The Latest Licensee For the World’s Most Popular Mobile Travel Utility

MobiMate Ltd. announced today that O2 Asia Pacific has licensed WorldMate 2006 Standard Edition for the new O2 Xda Atom Exec, the company’s latest PDA-phone that is shipping throughout Asia Pacific and the Middle East.  This is the ninth such agreement MobiMate has signed in 2006, leading to several million pre-licensed copies of WorldMate to ship on many of the best smartphones and mobile phones in the market.

MobiMate’s CEO Nadav Gur explains, “MobiMate is excited to partner with O2 Asia Pacific on the Xda Atom Exec.  There is a huge market for mobile travel services, so this deal with O2 is an ideal way for us to reach the region’s business travellers and frequent fliers.  O2 Asia Pacific’s John Featherstone, O2’s Vice President of Sales for Southeast Asia and Oceania, adds, “The Xda Atom Exec is tailor-made for high-flyers and rising professionals in the business world – frequent travellers who need constant access to information they can use in a quick and timely manner. WorldMate was the obvious choice to enhance our value proposition and provide best-of-breed functionality to our customers.”

WorldMate 2006 Standard Edition provides a host of important services such as weather forecasts, daily currency exchange rates, measurement converters, world clocks, and more.  Xda Atom Exec customers will receive the application for free with their device and can opt to upgrade to WorldMate Professional Edition 2006, which provides several enhancements including flight schedules for over 90% of the world’s commercial flights, real-time flight status, and enhanced weather services.
