cPC will have built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth after all - but no cellular July 22, 2006 [mobile PCs (Tablet PC, mini-PC, ...)] | By Edward J. R. Initially cPC mobile computer with 2 processors and 2 operating systems was touted as Pocket PC phone (!) and Tablet PC in one! Later on cPC "engineering sample" units were being shipped for early adopters but they were not featuring any wireless built-in! Now it looks like DualCor - makers of cPC - are backpedalling and after all Wi-Fi and Bluetooth will be built-in: The cPC I ordered will not have built in BT or WiFi, but it will include a Wifi Card. Most importantly, I was told that future shipping versions will include built-in WiFi and Bluetooth. Even better, I was told that I would be able to upgrade my device to the shipping model once they are ready. However obviously still cPC will not be equipped with built-in cellular interface so that it could connect to Internet without any additional cards! Nowadays in USA (Sony - with EDGE, Dell - with CDMA EVDO) and in Europe (Dell, Fujitsu-Siemens, others - with UMTS and HSDPA) are offering built-in cellular Internet access capabilities in their notebook computers - so that Internet can be accessed everywhere and not just at Wi-Fi hotspots. While having buit-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is fine, lack of cellular interface in cPC is totally diminishing any market success of this unique device that can run in one box, side by side, at the same time, both operating systems: Windows Mobile and Windows XP.
