HTC Star trek MS Smartphone approved by FCC = coming to USA soon July 23, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. If you don't need Wi-Fi (because you have for example flat rate Internet access through EDGE) then HTC Star Trek with ultra-stylish design may be a phone for you! Of course as always in contemporary products HTC is underlining the word "Innovation" and writes "HTC Innovation, Made in Taiwan" on the label: 
All phones sold in USA must be approved by American FCC type approval organization. The HTC Star Trek smartphone has just cleared that hurdle and be thus legally sold in USA! Interestingly this phone will be sold also in a version without camera: Product Name: Smartphone Brand Name: N/A Model Name: STAR100, STAR100 (without camera) FCC ID: NM8STAR Report No.: EH/2006/20004 Prepared for High Tech Computer Corp. 23, Hsin Hua Rd., Taoyuan 330, Taiwan. ... what is extremely important because some companies and organizations doesn't allow camera phones on their premises! Apart from the lack of Wi-Fi (that can be evaded by having flat rate mobile Internet access - that is cheap and common in USA) the HTC Star Trek smartphone has very attractive looks, nice and stylish clam-shell design and very useful external display (yes, it has 2 displays!).
