Review of Fujitsu Siemens Pocket Loox T830 Pocket PC phone
July 25, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.
This is very extensive review with plenty of photos, screenshots and benchmarks. Test of 3G video calling is missing in this review, but otherwise it is a very in-depth review.
Fujitsu Siemens Pocket Loox T830 has built-in GPS, supports 3G/UMTS and also has built-in Wi-Fi and a QWERTY keyboard for single-handed usage - sounds like a perfect mobile phone - providing the low resolution display (240x240) is satisfactory...
Since this review is in French here are some highlights in English:
- processor: Intel Xscale PXA270 - not the fastest one but it has enough power to run Skype, etc and is not underpowered like those phones with 195/200 MHz
- jog-dial (up, down - but not a real wheel that can be scrolled without limits)
- full size SD card, or in other words: ability to connect many SDIO accessories that are available only in full size SD format and apart from that cheap big size memory cards available up to 4GB of size
- connector for external antenna for GPS receiver is available
- industry standard mini-USB connector available
- in the package, apart from the phone itself also following things are included: docking station (with 2 mini-USB inputs - charge and data sync), stereo headset (wired), power supply
- it's bigger but thinner than HTC TyTN
- TomTom Navigator GPS software is working fine with built-in GPS
- both Wi-Fi standards supported: 802.11b and 802.11g
- Bluetooth 2.0 with support for stereo audio over Bluetooth
- when UMTS network is available then in title bar instead of "U" (like in HTC manufactured phones) another symbol appears: "3G".
To read this review click here. It is worth seeing - at least because of many photos, including comparative photos with other contemporary and upcoming phones.
