Review of Samsung SGH-i320 - unpacking and first impressions July 26, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Samsung SGH-i320 smartphone is really small, smaller than expected, the display is great, the fist quality impressions are also great...
Not only small but this phone is also very thin:
On the right side one can see sockets for headset and for charging/synchronization - both are covered:
On the left side volume buttons are placed:
This phone has resoultion 320x240 meaning landscape resolution:
... what is not typical - by now most smartphones had 240x320 or 176x220 pixels. The camera on the back is of 1.3 megapixel resolution:
While booting the logo of Samsung appears:
This phone is really really small, as you can see it here in a comparison with a ballpoint:
... and a coin (from Switzerland):
Here is the content of the box (please note: 2 batteries are included and not one as usual):
The SIM card and micro-SD memory card are accessible once the battery cover is removed and the battery is removed:
Here you can see text "Made in Korea by Samsung" what means that this phone is manufactured in Korea (some Samsung phones are made in China):
Settings for various Swiss mobile operators are predefined for easy selection (this phone was purchased in Switzerland):
There is a lot of internal memory available in the phone (109 MB!) right from the beginning and here you can also see exact version numbers of various parts of Windows Mobile operating system:
Conclusion: Samsung SGH-i320 has no 3G/UMTS support and no Wi-Fi, but it features EDGE and GPRS and it has very usable QWERTY keyboard. It is also very fast (416 MHz Intel Xscale processor) and has brilliant display. Since it is very small it can very well serve as an everyday mobile phone for everybody - and not just a business phone for professionals.
