First OFFICIAL photo of Windows Mobile Treo smartphone for Vodafone July 28, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Yes, it is official, here is the photo of Vodafone Treo powered by Windows Mobile and made by Palm:
Official information from Palm says only that it will be 3G phone in UMTS standard: The Palm Treo smartphone that will result from this collaboration will represent an industry first by operating on Vodafone's 3G/UMTS network and delivering the hallmark Palm experience on top of the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system. The new Treo smartphone will be available first to Vodafone customers in multiple European countries, including the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy and Netherlands, before the end of the calendar year. ... but nothing more was known by now, so it is good that now Microsoft has published this photo! Please note: it is unclear yet whether this phone will suppport video calling (standard feature of UMTS like SMS is standard feature of GSM) and whether it will have built-in Wi-Fi. From the display above however one can clearly see that square display will be used what means: only 240x240 pixels. From the display above one can actually see indication (no certainty) that this phone has built-in Wi-Fi! Since Palm Treo smartphones have the best QWERTY keyboards for single handed usage in the world, better even than those of RIM BlackBerry, even if other features would be missing, this phone will be extremely interesting! It is possible that BlackBerry Connect software for Windows Mobile will be available for this smartphone, so also users of RIM BlackBerry devices could switch to this phone without any problems with disrupting the continuity of their service. Please note also red and white color scheme of the home screen in the display - it is typical color scheme for Vodafone.
