Windows Mobile is beating RIM BlackBerry, says deluded Robbie Bach from Microsoft August 01, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R. Microsoft is not only so disconnected from reality that it removes vital features (like ActiveSync over Wi-Fi) from latest version of Windows Mobile but the new super-boss of Xbox and Windows Mobile and Zune combined, claims that Windows Mobile is doing good with regard to RIM BlackBerry: Microsoft also said yesterday it is gaining market share on Research In Motion Ltd., the current leader in the wireless e-mail market. Robbie Bach, president of Microsoft's entertainment and devices division, said devices running the company's Windows Mobile operating system are "doing well" against RIM's BlackBerry devices. This claim is completely untrue. Furthermore Windows Mobile not only is not beating RIM BlackBerry but also in global smartphone market share it still is being defeated badly by Symbian - global market share of windows Mobile is around 10% and global market share of Symbian is around 80 %. Robbie Bach is utterly deluded and if we will not see Zune services in Windows Mobile phones, then Robbie Bach is a failure on all fronts. Please note: Microsoft on one hand always declines to give market share figures to journalists (we have been participating in several press conferences of Microsoft so we know it first-hand) saying that analysts should provide such numbers, but also Microsoft often employs pro-Microsoft market research companies, so at the end the image of market situation that Microsoft executives have, is usually very clouded and misguided. Robbie Bach proves that this image sometimes is also completely wrong. To read more click here.
