"Last year was a shock; Microsoft is building phones?" April 03, 2003 [General] | By anonymous 1. msmobiles.com firmly believes, that Microsoft powered cell phones will dominate the industry in coming years and will be a big winner. This interesting overview-like article about Microsoftīs efforts in cell phone area seems to share this view: Anybody who remembers the old days of the launch of Windows, will probably be able to see underneath this, and realise that it is never safe to laugh at Microsoft, especially when itīs floundering. [...] Microsoft revealed the ace up its sleeve. That ace is the developer community. [...] In a year, it may still be the case that there are more Symbian phones than "Stinger" Smartphones. In five yearsī time, the situation is harder to call. But anybody who writes Microsoft off in this market will certainly have made the wrong call. Great, simply great! Itīs not yet time to uncork champaign, but situation develops very good for Microsoft in cell phone area. Can you dig it, Nokia? We donīt think so... PS. we have forgotten to mention, that so called "SPVx" phone will be sold under the name "SPV E100" - Orange mentioned it during the MDC in Paris. This article mentions it too.
