USB card for CDMA EVDO coming soon to Sprint in USA August 07, 2006 [mobile PCs (Tablet PC, mini-PC, ...)] | By Edward J. R. For all users of UMPC and Tablet PC computers in USA, and also for users of sub-notebooks, this is one of the best news ever! In USA Sprint wireless carrier offers very cheap and very good (fast) flat rate mobile Internet access, so now also users of ultra mobile PCs will be able to enjoy wireless broadband. Similar USB cards, but for UMTS and HSDPA - meaning: usable also in Europe and Asia - are also coming soon, among others from Huawei... This revolutionary product will enable Tablet PC and Mac laptop and desktop users that do not have a PCMCIA card slot to connect to the Internet or company information with broadband-like download speeds using Sprint Mobile Broadband Services operating on the Sprint Power Vision Network. Not much information is out on this card but our early tests have shown remarkable speeds! Previous ultra mobile portables have had the "ball and chain" by tethering their EVDO phones/PDA's but now those days are over and it looks like Sprint beat everyone to the punch! Please note: unfortunately it is impossible to make regular phone calls with this USB EVDO card - only data connections are possible, but obviously one can use VoIP software like Skype to make phone calls.
