HTC Excalibur - new upcoming Windows Mobile smartphone - exposed ! August 18, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Unlike former photos and images that were small resolution or blurry, here come the first sharp images and more information! Unlike Motorola Q and Samsung SGH-i320 - other Microsoft smartphones with QWERTY keyboard and no touch screen - the HTC Excalibur has built-in Wi-Fi what is absolutely crucial!
ALL of the MS Mobile QWERTY Smartphones that you've heard rumors about will hit the U.S. this year The "Excalibur" is definitely a Q-killer. It's smaller than the Q and features quad-band and Wi-Fi. Check out the touch/jogstrip for scrolling and some interestingly placed buttons on the QWERTY keyboard. To learn more, to see more photos (including comparison photos with BlackBerry device) and more latest information about HTC Excalibur you must click here. It is good to see that HTC understands that Wi-Fi is not just important but crucial. Claims of some wireless carierrs that "this smartphone needs no Wi-Fi because it has 3G (EVDO or UMTS or HSDPA)" are a lie and the reality is that by selling phones without Wi-Fi carriers want to force end users to purchase costly data tariffs. End users shoult not fall for it and purchase only such phones that have (also) bult-in Wi-Fi! While the purpose of HTC Excalibur smartphone is to win a big battle with BlackBerry, this phone may also make obsolete any plans of Motorola or Samsung in the area of QWERTY smartphones...Please note that BlackBerry Connect software is available for Windows Mobile too so if some operators would desire to sell this phone with full BlackBerry functionality (including push email) then it would be possible. Anyway obviously this phone will support Microsoft's push email solution that is increasingly being offered by many operators, hosting companies and Internet service providers...
