mVoice version 5 voice recorder is available now also for Windows Mobile Treo
August 18, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.

It is excellent news for all Windows Mobile phone users, not just for Treo owners, that some software developers now develop software not just for Palm OS but also for Windows Mobile Treo - all thanks to Palm Inc making Windows Mobile Treo... however the version of mVoice for Windows Mobile is poorer than Palm OS version ...

Lack of ability to MP3 file format (so called "direct encoding") is also a big disappointment...

More information from the software vendor follows.

Record your phone calls and create voice memos with one easy press of a button. Then, keep your voice notes neatly organized and all in one convenient place.

The latest mVoice provides a superior user interface with enhanced navigational possibilities both when using a stylus and the keyboard.

Some of the key features include:
  • Keep track of your phone calls (available on Palm OS only)
  • Record your ideas and keep them in one place (Voice memos recording)
  • Record intuitively and easily utilizing one-button recording
  • Don't be limited with Treo base memory, save directly to SD card
  • Turn your recordings into system alarms
  • Optimize recordings quality
  • Record in the background while using another application and many more

Update: apparently it is possible to record phone calls in Windows Mobile phones with this program too, but it requires some manual handling:

On Treo 700w it is possible to record phone calls with mVoice, having this in mind:
  • To record a phone call, you should first answer the incoming call, and while it is in progress start recording with mVoice. The easiest way to do this is to assign mVoice to a hard key and use the one-button recording feature.
  • If you are using a headset you will be able to record only your voice - sound from the other side of a call cannot reach mVoice since the Treo directs it to the ear speaker.
  • If you are not using a headset, sound from both participants of a phone call will be recorded, but to make it usable you should turn on the "Speaker Phone" option after answering the call, and increase recording volume in mVoice.
