Second Windows Mobile Treo to be launched - with built-in GPS! August 22, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. American wireless carrier Sprint, that is well known as the one that provides the best and cost effective data service in USA, and operates similarly like Verizon over CDMA EVDO network, will be launching soon Treo 700wx Pocket PC phone made by Palm. At first glance it looks just exactly like Treo 700w:
... but there is one major difference - in a leaked specifications one can notice "GPS" as one of "built-in key features"!!! Specifications (selected):
Please note: the name "smartphone" has been first used by Palm OS based Kyocera PDA phones, that were sold in USA and then picked also by Palm for their Treo PDA phones. Microsoft has confused situation by using name "smartphone" just for devices that have no touch screen and for smaller, heavily handicapped (no Office Mobile, no MS Reader, etc) Windows Mobile platform - MS Smartphone or Windows Mobile for Smartphone. Generally however term "smartphone" and "PDA phone" denote the same thing but entrance of Palm to Windows Mobile phones world, has introduced some confusion among Windows Mobile users, for whom "smartphone" means "not Pocket PC" but Windows Mobile Treo indeed are powered by Windows Mobile for Pocket PC Phone Edition version of the platform.
