HTC gets serious about customer support: launches official Wiki but still no forum August 22, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R. At first this Wiki looked like a one created just by an enthusiast - one of many on this topic - but now there is official confirmation from Wiki hosting company and HTC is linking to this Wiki from its websites! Clearly HTC strives to improve customer support and the only missing piece in the HTC puzzle is web forum, where HTC employees would provide answers and end users could discuss issues... Information from Wetpaint - the company, where HTC purchased Wiki hosting, follows. * * * * * Wetpaint to Host Wiki for HTC Smartphone Users Leading Handset Manufacturer HTC to Build Innovative Community Site to Engage Its Passionate Consumer Base Wetpaint.com announced that High Tech Computer Corp. (HTC), the world's leading provider of Microsoft Windows Mobile-based devices, has chosen Wetpaint to build and host a new wiki Website to help support HTC's growing online community. The Web site, which can be found at www.htcwiki.com , is a place where HTC's passionate customer base are encouraged to share their experiences, offer tips and tricks, and recommend new devices to other customers as well as to HTC. "HTC is truly leading the industry by creating HTCWiki.com to help spur and be part of an interactive dialogue with its user community," said Ben Elowitz, CEO of Wetpaint. "This level of transparency reinforces the outstanding relationships the company has with partners and customers." "HTC device users, partners and potential customers are very engaged and vocal when it comes to technology, so we wanted to give them an easy way to connect not only with us but also with our partners and other consumers," said David Smith, Director of Marketing for HTC. "Creating HTCWiki.com with Wetpaint was a great solution because it gives our customers a site where the user community can get together and share valuable information." HTC designs, manufactures, and markets innovative, feature-rich Smartphone and Pocket PC mobile devices. These devices are available as HTC-branded units in Europe and Asia and also as products individually customized and branded by carriers and other branded partners. The company worked with Wetpaint to create a customized version of Wetpaint's innovative Website technology that combines the best elements of wikis, blogs, and social networking services. The Wetpaint platform is different from other similar technologies because of its easy click-and-type approach to adding or editing content. Instead of having to know complicated mark-up languages, for example, Wetpaint users simply click and type in order to add or edit text, photos, or hyperlinks on community website pages. HTC is part of a larger trend of companies using Wetpaint and other community platforms allowing customers to connect directly with the brands they are most passionate about.
