Samsung SGH-i600 and Samsung SGH-i610 approved by FCC for use in USA September 05, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Samsung is working with Nokia on development of Symbian Series 60 smartphones to be produced by Samsung, but this cooperation must be very inefficient because instead of launching Symbian Series 60 phones, Samsung is releasing new and new Windows Mobile phones! Samsung has just FCC approved Samsung SGH-i600 (see here for real-life photos of this phone from IFA 2006 in Berlin) but also another MS Smartphone powered 3G mobile phone: Samsung SGH-i610 (notice internal camera lens for 3G video calling):
... that has external display:
And in photos from FCC looks like this:
Interestingly the FCC documentation for Samsung SGH-i610 includes user manual, but FCC documentation for Samsung SGH-i600 has no user manual yet! It may indicate that Samsung SGH-i610 will come to USA sooner than Samsung SGH-i600. Interestingly Samsung SGH-i610, according to the manual, similarly like Samsung SGH-i600 has not only built-in RSS reader, but also built-in Podcast catcher (funnily named "Pod Cast", although the proper word in English is "Podcast")! Please note that Samsung SGH-i610 has "2 letter a key" keypad, that is also present in some other phones (particularly from RIM and from Sony Ericsson), but for many people is not acceptable and not even remotely comparable to full QWERTY keyboard.
