RIM laughs out Motorola Q September 19, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Ed Zander, when he was unveiling Motorola Q publicly:
... was so full of himself, that he even claimed that 12 million Motorola Q handsets will be sold within a couple of years... and everybody in Motorola was certain that Motorola Q will be the "BlackBerry killer"! ... however now not only Motorola Q is a failure (battery problems! people disappointed that it has no touch screen) but also CEO of RIM is laughing out this smartphone: Motorola's new "Q" smartphone has not yet eaten into the market for Research In Motion's BlackBerry devices, RIM chairman and co-chief executive Jim Balsillie said on Monday. "I haven't noticed an impact yet," Balsillie said about the new Motorola phone, which entered the market in July. RIM launched a multimedia-geared version of the BlackBerry, called "The Pearl," last week in a move to push its wireless e-mail device, popular among executives, into the wider consumer market, where competition is heating up.
