Samsung SGH-i607 - the best MS Smartphone of all times - coming to Cingular, USA September 25, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. We have been reviewing shortly Samsung SGH-i600, and now information has leaked, that its American brother, Samsung SGH-i607:
... is coming to USA ... ... to Cingular (a wireless carrier in USA that operates GSM and HSDPA networks). Obviously new Samsung phones with QWERTY keyboard - both i320 and i600 series - are equally thin as Motorola Q, so Motorola no longer can claim that it has the thinnest smartphone in the world. On the other hand while Motorola Q for HSDPA/UMTS/EDGE/GPRS/GSM still is far far away (Motorola has some engineering problems?), the Samsung SGH-i600 has been already sighted in many places and is coming soon (in 1-2 months) to the markets both in Europe (i600) and USA (i607). Apart from HSDPA (= fast UMTS) support (that unlike in the case of Treo 750v is certain because Samsung has placed big letters "HSDPA" on the back of the phone), the Samsung i607 features also built-in Wi-Fi (not 100% certain in i607 but European version 100% for sure has it), Bluetooth, podcast downloader and genuine wheel (like in BlackBerry devices). The only things that Samsung i607 is missing is touch screen (what is obvious - it is MS Smartphone, not Pocket PC phone) and video calling (no camera in the front), that apparently is done on request from Cingular, that is about to sell also HTC Hermes 3G Pocket PC phone with 3G video calling feature removed.
