We have been reporting about SQL Server 2005 Everywhere previously and it is another iteration of Microsoft's mobile database, that comes after SQL CE and SQL Server Mobile. Now the new keyword is "everywhere" what means that it can run not only in Windows Mobile and Windows CE devices, but also in devices powered by Windows XP and Windows Vista, what is very proper in the era of ultra mobile PCs (UMPC devices)... While for enterprise applications the non-beta SQL Server Mobile would be better choice, for future projects the "everywhere" version seems to be better choice: This download, entitled "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Everywhere Edition Tools for Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 Beta" is installed after the installation of Visual Studio 2005 SP1 Beta and updates the Smart Device Development components in Visual Studio 2005 SP1 Beta with the SQL Server 2005 Everywhere Edition design time UI/Dialogs, device CAB files, and provides new features - Click Once support etc. SQL Server Everywhere Edition is a powerful, yet lightweight relational database engine that makes it easy to develop desktop applications by supporting familiar Structured Query Language (SQL) syntax and providing a development model and API consistent with SQL Server.
