Motorola Q Pro October 15, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Essentially nothing has changed: next model of Motorola Q line is scheduled to be released at the beginning of year 2007. Everything else is rumors and wishful thinking. The latest rumor is about appearance of Motorola Q Pro: Earlier this week at Gartner Symposium ITxpo, Motorola announced the upcoming release of the “Motorola Q Pro”; an upgrade to their Windows Mobile Smartphone. Along with upgraded hardware, and having a black case, this sweet little number totes Motorola’s “MOTOPRO Mobility Suite”, a software package installed on your back end that allows you to do remote device management, application management, and disabling of the camera unit. Upgraded hardware should mean that Motorola Q Pro would be also for CDMA EVDO networks but just have better hardware, like added Wi-Fi and longer battery life (main problem of current Motorola Q) but it may also mean that Motorola Q Pro will support HSDPA (fast version of UMTS) instead of CDMA EVDO. However to be really succesful Motorola would have to not only include Wi-Fi in the next Motorola Q, but also would have to convince Skype to release Skype client for MS Smartphone platform (now available only for Pocket PC). Otherwise no matter how good next Motorola Q will be, it will be bigger and have less features than upcoming Samsung SGH-i600 smartphone...
