GSmart i200 with VGA display and AKU 3.0 officially announced ! October 20, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. 3GSM Asia is not the main 3GSM conference (the main one is in Europe), but since most manufacturers of Windows Mobile phones are located in Asia, for them (!) it feels like a main one! We have met and interviewed them at CeBIT and now GIGABYTE Communications - a subsidiary of well known maker of mother boards and other computer parts - has just announced an excellent new Pocket PC phone and here comes more information about it!

In fact, a major highlight of the event is the preview of the new GSmart DVB-H digital mobile TV device, GSmart i200. To demonstrate this live DVB-H mobile broadcast solution, GIGABYTE Communications has invited Innoxius Technologies and Penthera to participate in this event. "GIGABYTE Communications is proud to demonstrate the GSmart i200 phone, particularly live mobile broadcasting using Penthera viewer to provide a VGA viewing experience," said Christopher Chen, General Manager of GIGABYTE Communications’ Global Sales and Marketing Division. "By providing a complete, open-standard, feature-rich solution set, the GSmart i200 addresses the needs of operators worldwide who are seeking devices that support revenue growth opportunities associated with mobile broadcast services." This mobile broadcast demonstration will utilize Penthera’s end-to-end, mobile broadcast software suite, Innoxius’ mobile broadcast head-end and transmission solution, and GIGABYTE’s GSmart i200. At the head-end, Innoxius Technologies’ hardware is integrated with Penthera’s Broadcast Services Platform, a DVB-IPDC-compliant control and services solution which enables such unique services as media casting, interactivity, targeted advertising, and usage tracking. Broadcasters and mobile operators can use this system to develop a range of transaction-based revenue opportunities. On the mobile client, GIGABYTE has integrated Penthera’s industry-leading and field-proven mobile client application, Penthera Viewer, along with Siano Mobile Silicon’s Mobile Digital TV receiver/demodulator.
