Security company develops malware - RexSpy for Windows Mobile - to sell their other products November 02, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Security software companies sink so low, that they develop malware to boost sales of their other products! Wilfried Hafner, director of SecurStar GmbH company from Munich, Germany, has developed a Trojan horse program called "RexSpy" that can overhear phone calls made with Windows Mobile phones. Is it coincidence that his company sells also software that can protect you from this Trojan horse? Clearly not! Just imagine: SecurStar GmbH has developed a program "PhoneCrypt": PhoneCrypt is a telephone encryption software designed to combat eavesdropping and interception by providing Military Grade security for your confidential mobile phone conversations. PhoneCrypt is a software-only solutions designed to provide truly secure voice communication on Microsoft Windows Mobile enabled Communicators and Smartphones without affecting their original functionality. ... but apparently it was not selling well, so the company decided to develop RexSpy to offer then "free RexSpy killer software" - but only upon registration (so not so free after all) - and clearly this company is using this Trojan horse program just to increase publicity and sell more PhoneCrypt copies! Our advice is clear: stay away from SecurStar GmbH ! Company that creates malware to attract publicity is not to be trusted.
