i-mate PDA-L sighted at Microsoft Tech-Ed conference in Barcelona, EU November 09, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. After being dumped by HTC, the i-mate is struggling to survive. Instead of announcing new upcoming models on their web site however, they are presenting them sneakily here and there, mainly at Microsoft conferences and other events. It looks like i-mate is inquiring various manufactures in China and Taiwan and trying to find some Windows Mobile phones to brand by themselves, but by now still they failed to found phones with 3G... i-mate exhibited today, at Microsoft Tech-Ed Barcelona, a new windows mobile device: the i-mate PDA-L. The device is running Windows Mobile 5.0 and has a 2.4” inch screen. The processor is OMAP 800 at 200 MHz and in terms of memory it has 64MB RAM and 128 MB ROM. The i-mate PDAL also has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a 2.0 mega-pixel camera. In terms of size the device is thinner, much lighter but taller than i-mate JAMin. This is one of the devices distributed by i-mate and not manufactured by HTC. To learn more and to see some initial photo of this Pocket PC phone click here.
