First photos of HTC Cavalier and more details published November 24, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. HTC Cavalier is a 3G version of HTC Excalibur, i.e. similar external construction (including QWERTY keyboard) but equipped with more powerful components inside. The looks of HTC Cavalier have also been improved, streamlined:
... but lack of the wheel means that Samsung BlackJack and Samsung i600 still are the better choice for end users... Some highlights about HTC Cavalier:
Conclusion: detailed comparative tests need to be done yet between Samsung i600 (BlackJack) and HTC Cavalier but right at start HTC Cavalier is a loser in this comparison because Samsung's top smartphone offers genuine wheel - like in BlackBerry devices - and thus offers much higher usability than HTC Cavalier. Clearly HTC should give up this awkward JOGGR control and use wheel instead... We have no idea why HTC thinks that it can re-invent the wheel through this low-usability JOGGR - after all HTC uses wheel already in HTC Hermes Pocket PC phone so putting it in a smartphone shouldn't be a problem.
