O2 branded HTC Excaliubr - Xda Cosmo - scores poorly in German press
December 02, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R.
It is that simple: if a smartphone has QWERTY keyboard for single handed usage and no touch screen, then it should have scroll wheel. Unfortunately HTC is forcing upon users touch pad -like control, that is more annoying than useful...
This review from German magazine "Connect" is so professional, that even reception and transmission sensitivity have been measured:
Highlights from this review:
- overall result: satisfactory (not even good, not excellent) - just 354 points out of 500
- no 3G (no UMTS) and no IrDA (infrared) is disappointing
- built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are positive
- lack of Office Mobile and lack of ability to edit office documents is very annoying although viewers for Office documents from ClearView company are included in the phone
- micro-SD card slot
- touch buttons are annoying because they are being activated from time to time
- positive: quite long battery life
- overall conclusion from the review: if you need a PDA phone (smartphone) that is full featured and easy to use, avoid Xda Cosmo (i.e. avoid HTC Excalibur!)
