Rumor: HTC Vox smartphone with slide-out keyboard coming ! December 05, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Updated: info about i-mate JAQ4 and other upcoming i-mate devices added. See end of this news item! It would be the first MS Smartphone with QWERTY keyboard that is sliding out! Here is photo and specifications:
... or in other words:
Commentary: it is good to see that HTC is working on new models, but it is dissapointing that HTC still is not planning a Pocket PC phone with QWERTY keyboard for single handed usage! While HTC Herald and HTC Hermes are fine devices, they have keyboards usable only with 2 hands and success of BlackBerrry devices has proven that single-handed QWERTY keyboard is a must! While HTC Excalibur features QWERTY keyboard for single handed usage, it is powered by MS Smartphone ( Windows Mobile smartphone edition) what means that it has no touch screen and thus can't compete with Palm Treo and other smartphones. Probably there is a secret deal in place between HTC and HP and HTC and Palm, that as long as HTC is getting manufacturing orders from these 2 companies, HTC itself will not be offering such a phone!
