HTC Hermes Pocket PC phone with Windows Mobile CROSSBOW in ROM sighted in the wild ! December 10, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. There will be no official ROM upgrade with Windows Mobile Crossbow for HTC Hermes but somebody (probably Microsoft or HTC or Orange UK or some other mobile operator) is using this phone for testing of this new major version of Windows Mobile! While Pocket PC version of Crossbow is just a minor face-lift (essentially: new skin with new looks) the Smartphone version of Crossbow is a revolution (Office Mobile will be available at last also for MS Smartphone!). Anyway here is how Windows Mobile Crossbow looks like in HTC Hermes (or rather Orange's incarnation of HTC Hermes - Orange SPV M3100):
While (as mentioned above) there will be no official ROM upgrade for HTC Hermes - a very popular Pocket PC phone with 3G, genuine wheel, QWERTY keyboard, etc - it would suffice that a hacker from xda-developers.com would have contact with HTC Hermes with Crossbow for 10-15 minutes and then the ROM would be dumped and the upgrade would be available unofficially. Please remember however that such unofficial ROM upgrades are violating guarantee given by distributors or operators and they may irreversibly damage your phone! Generally this what we recommend is: buy a new phone with Crossbow in it rather than trying out unofficial versions! To learn more click here (original source of this story).
