Ambiance Technology Mobile presents several new Windows Mobile phones December 12, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R. At first look their offering is impressive:
... and one could even start thinking that another challanger of HTC has arrived, but.... ... but at second look one can notice that for example the model that on the front page is described as Windows Mobile 5.0 powered in the details page has Symbian S60 screen shots on the display! Furthermore no big details about these phones are available and they look like photoshopped images and not like real phones. Nowadays anybody can make a website and claim having original phones, but the reality is that only few companies from Taiwan and China are manufacturing Windows Mobile phones and others (not counting Samsung) are just ordering them at existing manufacturing companies (that in most cases also are doing hardware design). All these phones from Ambiance Technology Mobile seem to have mediocre specifications and no support for UMTS / HSDPA. Most probably they are just AT Mobile branded handsets manufactured and designed by some company in Taiwan or China. Marketing phones without UMTS in Europe (AT Mobile is located in Netherlands) may be however problematic. At this moment it is too early say something more for sure - maybe these phones are not vaporware after all - but since no information is available where to purchase them, there is no point in dwelling on these phones anymore.
