QuickMark - QR code scanner for Windows Mobile phones - now supports more models December 18, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R. We were reporting about it previously (see links there how to create these QR codes) and now this application has been released in new version and with support of many more phone models.
How it works? It works very very well! Firstly you must prepare and print (or put on your website) a code that looks like this:
... and then you start the QuickMark program and a viewfinder from your camera appears (see screen shot above) and you can just move over the code with your phone and the code is being recognized (automatically! no need to press a button) and converted to text form! If this text contains address of a web site, you can right away navigate to this website. Otherwise you can have other information encoded in this way. The recognition is working very well in QuickMark because QR codes are much more reliable than standard bar codes. QuickMark is one of the most amazing applications for Windows Mobile - it works very reliably and is so good that Microsoft should consider purchasing this application for inclusion in every Windows Mobile phone. The sound that QuickMark makes when the code is recognized is stored in \Storage Card\Program Files\QuickMark\find.wav and you can replace it with your own if it is too annoying for you. To learn more or to download CAB file with QuickMark program for free, click here. If your phone is not listed there, try CAB file from other similar device! Example: in screen shot above we used a version of QuickMark for Dopod S300 (aka HTC Star Trek) in Lobster 700 TV smartphone and it works superbly.
