Microsoft still confused about 3GSM conference - Microsoft at 3GSM 2007 - preview December 19, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R. Next year, between February 12 and 15 the biggest in the world conference (and trade show) related to mobile phone industry takes place. Unfortunately Microsoft still thinks that it is just a European conference as address of Microsoft's official website about this conference indicates: http://www.microsoft.com/europe/3gsm/ Fortunately already Microsoft has everything prepared for 3GSM 2007 conference and Microsoft writes: Microsoft has an exciting program of events at 3GSM World Congress 2007 focused principally on showcasing the value we and our partners are delivering to mobile operators, OEMs and customers. Details to follow soon. Microsoft Booth Visit the Microsoft Booth and meet with the experts who are creating mobile solutions that provide innovative and compelling revenue generating services and solutions. You can also attend one of our exciting demonstrations in our on-stand presentation theatre; presentations every ½ hour Microsoft Executive Meeting Center (EMC) Microsoft will host its Executive Meeting Center - at the Hotel Catalonia Plaza during the week of 3GSM where there will be a program of pre-arranged executive customer meetings ... but still during keynotes no major speaker from Microsoft will be present (last year it was Steve Ballmer) and among conference keynotes the only one, that will be spoken by Microsoft will be spoken by Michael O'Hara, General Manager, Microsoft Communications Sector, Microsoft. Despite being located in Europe (Barcelona, Spain; between the towers you can notice the hotel "Catalonia Plaza" where Microsoft's Meeting Center will be located): 
... the 3GSM 2007 conference in Europe is a totally global event and the biggest event in 3GSM series. Main ITU conference was for example previously also in Europe (outside EU though: in Switzerland) but was moved recently to Asia (Hong Kong). Main 3GSM conference is still in Europe and Microsoft thinking that it is European event just because it is located in Europe is totally missing the point! Please note: 3GSM conference is not a consumer conference but rather a business-to-business (B2B) conference - a conference mainly designed for higher management from mobile operators and for businessmen and professionals from mobile phone (cellular) industry! Since Microsoft understands well how important relations with mobile operators are, Microsoft is strongly present at 3GSM. Similarly like last years we can expect at 3GSM several announcements about new models of Windows Mobile phones - we already have some unofficial information about it from several vendors. This time also more vendors of Windows Mobile phones will be present. However we don't think that Windows Mobile Crossbow will be unveiled yet officially there - it is still too early. One is for sure: 3GSM 2007 will be the biggest 3GSM conference ever and already now all the nearby hotels for the conference period are fully booked ... To learn more about 3GSM 2007 click here!
