Review of i-mate JAQ3 published December 19, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. i-mate JAQ3 is an another incarnation of a Pocket PC phone made by Tech Faith Wireless in China that we reviewed previoulsy in UBiQUiO 501 version. Shortly speaking: it is the thinnest Pocket PC phone in the world and using it is a total pleasure - due to this thinness! i-mate's incarnation however has been further improved and includes genuine BlackBerry -like wheel: We are happy to find a few shortcuts and large D-pad here as well. On the left side the manufacturer hasn’t missed the chance to put something that can be of use – here you will find a JOG Dial and OK key, which will help you a lot if you are using the phone with one hand only. Below them is the camera shortcut (and shutter key). To read this review (not much text but photos are worth seeing) click here. * * * * * In our view i-mate JAQ3 and UBiQUiO 501 are very good PDA phones and thanks to thinness (and a wheel in JAQ3) users get something better on many levels than Palm Treo smartphones - thick, Wi-Fi-less and without a wheel... If you need a phone that combines features of a BlackBerry (wheel! QWERTY keyboard for single handed usage) and a Pocket PC (touch screeen), then i-mate JAQ3 will be good choice!
