Palm corporation mentions Windows Mobile phone as main achievement December 20, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Palm, Inc., has just announced latest financial results, that are a bit worse than expected - mainly due to the fact that launch of Treo 750 smartphone at Cingular (USA) has been delayed, but interestingly release of the Windows Mobile phone - Treo 750v - is listed by Palm at the first place in the list of accomplishments: During the first quarter of fiscal year 2007, the company accomplished the following: -- Began selling the five-band Treo 750v smartphone using Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Edition on Vodafone's 3G/UMTS network. That smartphone now is available in nine European countries: Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. It also is available in five countries in Asia Pacific: Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand and Singapore; To read more about latest financial results of Palm, click here (original source of this story). Conclusion: the delay of Treo 750 in USA is starting to destabilize Palm, but still it has healthy profits and bright future: Treo smartphones from Palm are dominating smartphone market in USA - Treo is a cult in USA and Americans love it! Treo smartphones may be thick, lack HSDPA support, lack Wi-Fi and have no scroll wheel, but they have many loyal fans in USA. It still remains to be seen however how well will they sell outside of USA - globally market share of Treo smartphones is tiny.
