Another Review of the Cingular Palm Treo 750 smartphone published January 07, 2007 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. At last Americans can enjoy Windows Mobile Treo also in a GSM network - Cingular! Previously Windows Mobile Treo smartphones were available only at CDMA EVDO networks - Verizon Wireless and Sprint - and T-Mobile is not particularly friendly towards Palm, so Cingular remains as the only one where Windows Mobile Treo for GSM could be released realistically... what will happen tomorrow! In meantime already first reviews are being published... The Treo 750 is also missing any kind of video calling features that are built into the UMTS specifications. There's no front facing camera either, so it's likely that this device will not acquire these features should Cingular decide to support them in the future. We complained about the screen in the Treo 700w review, and the complaint still remains - using some applications on a low-resolution, square screen, is a bit cumbersome at times. While Windows Mobile does have support for higher resolution square screens, it's likely that we won't see a Windows Mobile Treo with a 480 x 480 screen, because of cost. Some users may miss having WiFi on this device. The thinking was probably that since the 750 is UMTS capable, most power users will be taking advantage of quicker over the air data speeds, instead of WiFi.
