CES 2007: First Wireless USB Software for Windows Mobile announced
January 08, 2007 [Wireless (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ...)] | By Edward J. R.

Unlike toy-like Symbian that is not used in industrial applications, several Windows Mobile and Windows CE devices are popular in industrial solutions and moreover it is possible to write the same driver both for Windows CE and Windows Mobile because Windows Mobile is based on Windows CE... so no wonder that several companies are developing interesting solutions for Windows Mobile and Windows CE!

Stonestreet One Announces UltraSuite for Windows Mobile

First Wireless USB Software for Windows-Based Embedded Devices

Stonestreet One, Inc., a wireless software company providing complete solutions for local and personal area networks including those using WiMedia-based Ultrawideband (UWB) technology, today announced the industry's first wireless USB software solution for Microsoft Windows Mobile and Windows CE embedded platforms based on Certified Wireless USB from the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF).

The solution brings the power of Stonestreet One's advanced UltraSuite portfolio of UWB software services to WiMedia-based systems. This includes consumer devices and mobile electronics such as PDA's, smart phones, portable media players, and gaming systems which support compact flash (CF) and SDIO interfaces running Microsoft Windows Mobile Edition, Portable PC, Smartphone or embedded Windows CE platforms. With this new capability, these systems can now incorporate advanced high speed UWB wireless technology and connect with both legacy wired and wireless USB systems.

Jeff Ravencraft, president and chairman of the USB-IF, commented, "The availability of Wireless USB software for new platforms, including Stonestreet One's capability for Windows Mobile devices, will continue to expand the adoption of solutions based on Certified Wireless USB technology."

Richard Smith, president of Stonestreet One, added, "UWB is a key new technology for the next generation of mobile and embedded devices. With the availability of our UltraSuite for Windows Mobile product, Stonestreet One is addressing the critical time-to-market issue for equipment manufacturers in this space and further accelerating the design-in of UWB capability into these systems."

Stonestreet One is demonstrating their UWB and other wireless solutions at the CES show in Las Vegas, January 8-11, 2007. They are located in the WiMedia Techzone, booth # 13544M in LVCC Central Hall 3.
