2007 Daylight Saving Time Patch for Windows Mobile January 17, 2007 [General] | By Edward J. R. Because of the Energy Policy Act, daylight saving time is extended by four weeks in 2007. so instead of modifying registry by yourself to ensure proper time change, you can fetch it also as a patch - in CAB file! Author of this patch writes: Daylight Saving Time changes this year on March 11 2007. Microsoft released a fix here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923953 but they are expecting the carriers to package and distribute it. Since Cingular and the others are behind the curve, I packaged their fix into a CAB file and posted it on my blog HERE. Without this fix, windows smartphones will have the wrong GMT offset. Please link to my site so your readers can download the fix, since packaging your own CAB is a pain. Official warning from Microsoft: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
